Ammonite - Fossilised animal - Two Ammonites and Fossil...

A refined decorative composition featuring three genuine, meticulously preserved marine fossils, each individually mounted on an elegant black metal display stand. The set includes two distinct types of fossilised ammonites alongside a polished fossil sea urchin (Clypeaster, commonly known as a sand dollar). One ammonite (Cleoniceras) has been expertly cut and polished, revealing a smooth, glass-like surface with warm amber tones, mother-of-pearl iridescence, and the subtle geometry of its internal chamber walls. The second ammonite (Douvilleiceras) retains its full, three-dimensional form, highlighting deeply ribbed, tactile outer whorls with dark mineralised undertones and golden highlights. Completing the ensemble, the polished fossil sea urchin showcases a remarkable five-petaled radial pattern at its center, preserved in rich ochre and honey tones. Ammonites were ancient cephalopod molluscs with coiled shells that inhabited prehistoric oceans before going extinct roughly 66 million years ago. In contrast, fossil sand dollars belong to the echinoderm family, known for their flattened bodies and distinctive floral symmetry etched into mineralised stone. Together, these specimens represent millions of years of natural history and geological transformation. Each piece is set at a different height, creating a dynamic and visually balanced arrangement. The minimalist black metal stand provides a modern contrast that elevates the natural textures, rich colors, and organic beauty of the fossils without distracting from them. An attractive piece combining palaeontology, natural history, and sophisticated interior design—ideal for a collector's cabinet, study, living room, or as a unique decorative display.
