American Radiator Company - Industrial wall plaque - Plaquette - cast iron

A very fine and rare antique cast-iron wall plaque, issued by the famous American Radiator Company at the end of the 19th century (circa 1895-1900). This richly decorated relief in Neo-Renaissance / Art Nouveau style was produced at the company's own high-quality iron foundries at the time. It served as a luxury corporate gift or presentation piece. The design is taken from the iconic 'Cherub' radiators from that period. The detailed relief shows a central image of a classical nymph or maiden with floral motifs, flanked by a striking lion head at the top, a cherub at the bottom and mythic creatures in the frieze at the sides. The back is fully marked with the cast text: 'AMERICAN RADIATOR COMPANY' and is provided with the original, integral cast hanging points. Condition: In excellent, original condition. The plaque has a beautiful, authentic dark patina with copper/bronze-toned accents on the higher parts of the relief subtly showing through. No cracks, restorations or modern repainting.
