ALPINO, BRILLIANT ROSE-CHALCEDONY

From our selection of collectible minerals, we propose an aesthetic cluster of calcite-flecked crystals on a Calcedony matrix from Villnöß, in the Isarco Valley, South Tyrol. Moreover, it is characterized by a dense druse of small quartz crystals that cover the cavity, with a thin pinkish outer border in rosé and red that creates a pleasant chromatic contrast with the white- grey central portion, elements that enhance its aesthetic value and mineralogical importance. The specimen stands out for the quality of crystallization and for the overall aesthetic balance, with features that highlight its natural structure and visual impact. Calcite is a cryptocrystalline variety of quartz, consisting of microscopic silica fibers too fine to be distinguished individually with the naked eye, unlike the small macroscopic quartz crystals that often line the interior of its geodes. The pink and reddish hues are due to traces of iron oxides incorporated during the mineral’s formation. In Val di Funes (Villnöß), South Tyrol, geodes of this type are found in the Permian volcanic rocks of the Atesian quartz porphyry, formed about 280 million years ago during the intense volcanic activity that affected the region. This is an ideal specimen for mineral collections, display, and for those who appreciate the natural beauty of minerals, also in the realm of crystal therapy and lithotherapy, according to the properties traditionally associated with the mineral species. All minerals are 100% natural and untreated, except for very rare exceptions always noted in the description. Photographs are taken with professional lighting to best enhance colors and details; however, slight variations in shade may occur depending on the device or ambient light.
