Alfred-Justin Blondeau (1850-?) - L'entrée du port de Nice au soleil couchant

BLONDEAU Alfred-Justin (1850-?) "The Port of Nice at Sunset" Oil on canvas, Signed and dated "Nice" at lower left, Beautiful work by the Nice-born painter Alfred-Justin Blondeau depicting a view of the entrance to the port of Nice at sunset. In the foreground one can notably see fishermen in their boat, reeling in their nets. In the background, the pier with its lighthouse is visible. The artist uses a color palette that wonderfully captures a sunrise or sunset in the Mediterranean. In 1875, at the Paris Salon, the artist presented a work entitled "Sunset Effect"; it could be our painting. We can also relate our work to another similar view by the artist of a smaller format that has appeared on the art market. Specialist in large-format landscapes and seascapes, the artist mainly aimed to paint views of Nice and its surroundings. His works are preserved notably at the Musée de Nice. Note: Some old minor retouches, without incidence, to be noted at the top right. Dimensions: 65 x 130 cm without frame and 70.5 x 136 cm with its simple wooden frame. // Delivery to be arranged according to destination outside the EU due to the format - Quote on simple request // For more information, please contact us. -- A purchase invoice is issued for every purchase.
