Alessio Mazzarulli - Not your doll - 47 (n.763)

ot your doll - 47 (n.763) The measurements are: - collage: 50.00 x 40.00 cm Acrylic painting on shredded paper on canvas I create paintings using acrylic colors and thousands of small pieces of recycled paper: everyday paper is transformed into art instead of ending up in the trash. In my latest works I have focused on the theme of women treated as objects (dolls) and too often victims of violence, and these are the latest pieces I have created. On these scraps of paper you can read words and phrases scattered here and there. It often happens this way when we really approach another person: sometimes we perceive their secret messages, sometimes not. "Not your doll" - "I am not your doll" is a series where I intend to represent female faces with features that recall the most classic dolls and the message is: "even if I look like a real doll, I am not a doll, your doll and you can do whatever you want with me" with everything that lies behind, sadly, leading to violence. The surface features small reliefs and I like to caress it, to feel it... I also use acrylic resin on the surface, which gives a shiny effect and protects the colors from sunlight and dust. This work is unique and original. Each work is securely packaged, wrapped and protected for shipment worldwide, with the Certificate of Authenticity included. A tracking number is provided for the shipment. This work will be shipped without a frame and without a stretcher as the piece will be shipped rolled. The canvas is larger than the painted dimensions because the greater surface will be useful and necessary to be able to stretch the canvas on a frame. It is advisable to have the work stretched and mounted by a trusted professional who can also advise you on a possible and appropriate frame. The images showing the work in interior spaces are for illustration purposes only and the proportions may appear different. The actual dimensions are those indicated in the description. Different light sources can give different colors to the photos. For more photos and information, contact me! Thank you. *** IMPORTANT NOTICE FOR INTERNATIONAL BUYERS (NON-EU): Customs duties, taxes and charges are not included in the item price or shipping costs. After an initial period devoted to sculpture there was a long pause of almost twenty years. Since December 2014 I resumed with the "two dimensions" for reasons of time and space, leaving sculpture behind and dedicating myself to acrylic paintings. I love painting abstract landscapes but recently I have been pushing myself to paint faces of people both imaginary and real. For me painting is "freezing time" in that exact moment; a painting of mine is often a faded memory and therefore my works are "worn, eroded by time". Sometimes the subject of my paintings are views of walls, also eroded by time, with moss and mushrooms that - over time - grow on the surface. The inexorable passage of time is the main theme of my works. Coming from a beautiful experience with clay manipulation, I love sculpture, the third dimension, the sense of touch, and my paintings are often characterized by reliefs that are clearly perceptible to both touch and sight. Recently, after several years during which my works were made from scraps of recycled paper forming figures, I am pushing myself to explore Optical Art where I use painted wooden discs arranged in lines and grids with mathematical precision that up close seem to form an abstract colorful painting but the more you move away the more a portrait emerges composed of many painted wooden discs. The violence against women is a theme that characterizes almost all my works when I reproduce female faces, precisely to give them a voice when they do not have the strength or courage to denounce the fact that they are not their partner's dolls and cannot be mistreated or worse, victims of violence.
