The goddess Diana depicted as a huntress, accompanied by two large hounds. The "Vargas Girl" style is characterized by a detailed rendering of the human form and soft lighting. The work was originally created around 1929 as a watercolor on board. The dancer Caja Eric (known from the Ziegfeld Follies) served as the model for it. This is one of Vargas's largest original artworks. Publication in Esquire (March 1941). To meet a tight deadline, Vargas reused this image for Esquire magazine in 1941. Because a fully nude portrait was not allowed in the magazine at the time, an acrylic overlay was temporarily painted over it that gave her a green outfit.
