After Professor Otto Poertzel (German, 1876-1963) Bronze Sculpture

Depicts a medieval courtly scene titled Maiden and a Suitor, featuring a lady seated on horseback alongside a standing male suitor dressed in a doublet. The composition is executed in patinated and cold-painted bronze, with carved white bone detailing for the heads, hands, and arms of the figures. A triangular bronze harp element accompanies the figures on the multi-tiered plinth. The stone base consists of a reddish-brown top slab, a black-and-white veined marble block, and a central horizontal band of multi-colored onyx. The upper stone surface near the horse's rear hooves bears the artist's incised signature reading Prof. Poertzel.
