After Giambologna - Sculpture, Mercurio - Grand Tour (XIX) - 45 cm

Bronze sculpture, gilded and patinated, depicting Mercury (Hermes) in a dynamic pose. Period: late 19th century (1880–1900) Provenance: Grand Tour French school, after an Italian model The composition is inspired by Giambologna's famous Mercury, one of the most widespread sculptural models during the European Grand Tour phenomenon. The figure is set on an ornamental bronze base, decorated with sculptural motifs, and on a cylindrical black marble pedestal with gilded moldings and ornamental elements. It bears on the back the mark “J.B. Déposée” / “Fabrication J.B.”, indicating the maker or foundry.
