Across three complementary compositions, Pikachu appears as a heroic warrior in elaborately engraved armour, surrounded by ancient castles, mythical dragons, enchanted forests and distant kingdoms. The triptych comprises three distinct scenes: I. The Golden Knight of Thunder — A proud knight in ceremonial armour, standing before a magnificent medieval castle. II. The Dragon Rider’s Quest — An adventurous knight on horseback, journeying through a mythical landscape watched over by a fearsome dragon. III. The Last Guardian of the Dark Kingdom — A solitary swordsman defending an ancient realm beneath a dramatic night sky. Each composition incorporates a short poem rendered in distressed Gothic Blackletter typography, recalling the illuminated manuscripts and legendary chronicles of medieval Europe. ARTISTIC INSPIRATION Inspired by medieval engravings, Gothic manuscripts, early European woodcuts and vintage fantasy illustration, the series combines intricate cross-hatching, distressed ink textures and dramatic black-and-white contrasts. ABOUT THE ARTIST Æ2381 (Spain, b. 1977) is an artist and designer with a Bachelor’s Degree in Digital Design and Multimedia Technologies (Barcelona, 2004) and a Bachelor’s Degree in East Asian Studies. His artistic practice explores the intersection of Japanese visual culture, vintage illustration, contemporary graphic design and popular iconography. Characterised by intricate monochrome compositions, engraved textures and imaginative reinterpretations of familiar cultural symbols, his works are held in private collections across more than 30 countries.
