Acerbis - Giotto Stoppino

Sheraton Sideboard by Giotto Stoppino and Lodovico Acerbis for Acerbis International. We present the 'Sheraton' sideboard, an icon of Italian design born from the collaboration between masters Giotto Stoppino and Lodovico Acerbis for Acerbis International. Winner of the prestigious Compasso d'Oro in 1979, the Sheraton piece is celebrated for its elegant form and its revolutionary functionality, so much so that it is part of the permanent collection of the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. Sheraton is a work that fully reflects the role of Stoppino and Acerbis as prominent leaders of design, combining refined aesthetics with technical innovation. Design and Innovation The hallmark of Sheraton is its ingenious and original door-closing system, an innovation that was a true revelation at its debut: the doors open with a combined movement, first sliding and then opening like a book, ensuring great practicality of use and a unique visual impact. After a period of collaboration with Gregotti and Meneghetti, he devoted himself to home design, collaborating with companies such as Kartell, Arteluce and, indeed, Acerbis. He won three Compasso d'Oro awards, one of which was for the Sheraton. Lodovico Acerbis (third generation of the Acerbis founder family) was the designer-entrepreneur who, from 1963, transformed the carpentry company into the Acerbis International brand, opening up to international collaborations and placing polyester lacquer and new technologies at the center. The collaboration with Stoppino yielded iconic products with global success. Acerbis Design Founded in 1870 as a carpentry, Acerbis Design became a leading Italian industrial design brand. With the entry of Lodovico Acerbis, the company embraced technological innovation, focusing on lacquers and new materials. Acerbis productions are synonymous with high quality, innovation, and research, contributing significantly to the domestic design landscape celebrated in exhibitions such as MoMA.
