A Sparkling Platinum Ring with 0.10 ct Top Wesselton Brilliant, from

Trained on original antique pieces, our goldsmiths have also mastered traditional craft techniques that are rarely used today and have therefore been all but forgotten. One of these is the finishing of metal surfaces with so-called “milgrains” or “millegriffes,” which means “a thousand grains.” In this process, delicate ridges are carved out of the gold or platinum and then rolled with a tiny steel wheel featuring small indentations. This transforms the ridges into exquisitely delicate beaded bands that reflect incoming light a thousandfold. This technique, which was so commonly used in pieces of jewellery from the 19th and early 20th centuries, has been employed in this ring from our workshop. At the center, we see a fine brilliant-cut diamond in a bezel setting that appears to almost float within the round ring face. This is because the ornate rim of the ring face forms a star-shaped shadow joint at its center, into which the brilliant-cut diamond is set. Two additional small diamonds add further highlights to the ring shoulders and transition smoothly into the delicate ring band. The ring evokes the elegant jewelry of the “Great Gatsby” era and the silent film era, without being unwieldy or uncomfortable to wear. Thanks to its high-quality materials and its flat, compact design, this piece of jewellery is suitable for everyday wear, making it the perfect engagement ring. Whenever possible, we use vintage diamonds, recycled gold, and platinum in our workshop to craft pieces of jewellery, in order to conserve resources and minimize our environmental impact. For this ring, the smaller diamonds and the platinum were sourced from vintage jewellery from the 1970s. The center diamond is being used in a piece of jewellery for the first time.
