A rock-crystal reliquary pendant mounted in white metal with five relic compartments, continental, probably 17th century, of elongated octagonal form, shaped from two bevelled rock crystal panels secured within a narrow moulded metal frame, with a shaped suspension loop and a separate twisted ring, one face incorporates five raised oval viewing bosses arranged in a cross, the larger central compartment surrounded by four smaller compartments, each containing a small fragment presented as a relic, the contents displayed against a cruciform paper or parchment insert, decorated in red with scrolling decoration, flowerheads and shaped borders, the reverse bears handwritten Latin inscriptions within the corresponding sections of the cross, the central inscription appears to read "Ex SS. Cruce" identifying the associated fragment as being from the Most Holy Cross, he surrounding labels appear to include: S. Jac. A. - Saint James, Apostle. S. Lud. R. - Saint Louis, King. S. Xav. C. - Saint Francis Xavier, Confessor. S. Matt. A. - Saint Matthew or Matthias, Apostle 46 x 35mm
