A PAIR OF GEORGE III MAHOGANY CANDLE STANDS IN THE MANNER OF INCE & MAYHEW, CIRCA 1760 The circular dished tops supported on finely fluted columns with base shaped bases and C-scroll supports with roundels to the feet 80cm high, 26.5cm diameter Provenance: Acquired from Christie’s London, 13th April 2000, Lot 6 ($21,675 incl. BP) With Hotspur Ltd, London. Literature: Illustrated D. Nickerson, English Furniture of the Eighteenth Century, London, 1963, p.77, fig.80. A copy of this book is included with the lot. These finely carved urn stands are very similar to a pair in the celebrated collection formed by Sir John H. Ward, K.C.V.O for Dudley House, Park Lane. Another closely related pair sold Christie's Important English Furniture 19th November 2000, lot 75 (£37,600 incl.
