A. Méricant

Exceptional complete set of 3 original boxes from the famous French architectural construction game L'Édifice (A. Méricant, Paris, 1920-1926). This lot brings together a specialized themed edition and its corresponding expansion boxes, preserved in excellent condition: • Box 1 (Gothic/Religious Architecture): Numerous pressed cardboard panels with high-quality polychrome lithography. Includes Gothic pointed-arch windows, stained glass decorated with saints (St. Peter, St. Paul), polychromed rosettes, clocks and special translucent panels (celluloid effect) that simulate stained glass. Also incorporates original die-cut metal arches for structural reinforcement. • Boxes 2 and 3 (Complementary Boxes): Provide the substantial volume of structural carpentry in solid wood (dozens of precisely grooved columns, main beams and battens), ashlar walls, stone arches, roof panels and metal fittings. • Original historical documentation: - The complete instruction booklet in good condition "Modèles, Plans et Instructions" (Copyright 1922). - The official fold-out sheet attached to the inside of the cover: « TARIF de Juin 1926 », a catalog document with prices and references of the era's pieces that allows dating the set with absolute precision. • Condition: Very good for its age. The lithographic colors remain vivid, the wood pieces and the original cardboard divider boxes are well preserved. A true museum piece for collectors of antique toys and miniature architecture.
