The work is structured around a strong contrast of complementary and analogous colors. It highlights the dark red, almost crimson, of the central flower, which contrasts vividly with the bright yellow of the dress and the warm highlights of the skin. The dark background and the greenish tones of the foliage act as a sober frame that enhances the saturation and the three-dimensionality of the main subjects. The piece explores the deep, almost tactile and contemplative, connection between humanity and nature. Holding the large flower symbolizes delicacy and the act of examining one’s own ephemeral beauty of life. Vida AMReyes. (Cuba 1991) discovered from a very young age that drawing was not just a pastime, but a way of translating the world. In 2010, she graduated with honors from the Carlos Enrique Gómez Academy of Fine Arts. There she consolidated exceptional technical prowess in oil painting, acrylics, and drawing from life, foundations that later would shape her conceptual signature. Her early career years occurred amid the Cuban cultural effervescence, actively participating in young artists’ salons and group exhibitions. Her work began to stand out immediately: in salons and exhibitions she won numerous awards and mentions. Vida AMReyes. (1991) discovered from a very young age that drawing was not just a pastime, but a way of translating the world. In 2010, she graduated with honors from the prestigious Carlos Enrique Gómez Academy of Fine Arts. There she consolidated exceptional technical prowess in oil painting, acrylics, and drawing from life, foundations that later would shape her conceptual signature. Her early career years took place amid the Cuban cultural fervor, actively participating in young artists’ salons and group exhibitions. Her work began to stand out immediately: in salons and exhibitions, earning numerous prizes and mentions. AMReyes’s work is distinguished by a visceral and imposing realism that instantly grabs the eye. However, her approach does not stop at mere photographic mimesis. On a rigorously worked anatomy or faces charged with deep psychographic expressiveness, the artist overlays and integrates icons, allegories, and conceptual elements, using in her works hand-stitched seams, dense color blocks, or garb laden with symbolism. For her, the human body and everyday figures are the perfect canvas to reflect on identity. This fusion of technical mastery and symbolic narrative opened the way to her international projection. Over the last decade, her pieces have been acquired by private collectors and galleries in: Spain: Where her conceptual language connects with European expressionism. United States: Included in private collections dedicated to contemporary Latin American art. Belgium and Poland: Exhibited at figurative art fairs and avant-garde galleries. Currently, AMReyes resides in Spain, a country where she has established her studio and consolidated a new creative phase. Far from quick commercial noise, she continues to develop her artistic life with patience and rigor, exploring painting as a tool for universal introspection. Her studio is today a space of constant creation, where every brushstroke continues to reveal those hidden truths and icons that we all carry inside, but that we often find difficult to see.
