19th century, Mandalay style, red lacquer with gilt scrollwork inset with colored glass, the carved oval face with downcast painted eyes, arched brows, and long earlobes, a domed ushnisha knot at top of head, the figure in a gently swaying pose, both hands drawing the hem of the monastic robe across the body, the robe hems, shoulder sash, and wristbands are all very finely detailed and feature color glass inlay, the Buddha stands atop a lotus base raised on a later square wood stand. DOA 55 x 24 x 10 in., Buddha only 50 in. Overall very good condition; expected wear, rubbing and losses to gilding from age; some long stress cracks to wood; a few glass insets lost towards bottom of robe; later wood stand.
