A Hardwood Box, Possibly for Seal Storage Qing Dynasty

A Hardwood Box, Possibly for Seal Storage Qing Dynasty A substantial hardwood box of simple and functional form, possibly intended for the storage of seals or other small precious objects. The box is fitted with brass mounts to the front, adding a restrained decorative accent to the otherwise natural appearance of the hardwood. The piece has been stored in a basement for some time and consequently exhibits surface dirt and signs of age. The brass fittings to the front show areas of corrosion consistent with prolonged storage. Despite these condition issues, the box remains structurally complete.
