A GEORGE III MAHOGANY SERPENTINE FRONTED WRITING OR SIDE TABLE IN THE MANNER OF THOMAS CHIPPENDALE, CIRCA 1760 The frieze drawer opening to reveal a fitted interior, with a sliding baize lined surface with compartments and crescent drawer below, on concealed swivel castors 80.5cm high, 101cm wide, 56cm deep Condition Report: Of outstanding rich colour and deep natural patina With an old working key Generally very good, writing section sliding as expected, some slight stiffness to the internal slides, easily rectified with candle wax The runners on which the writing section slides are old oak replacements and are effective and fit for purpose The whole is sturdy and sitting true. Minor signs of old 'honest 'minor repairs to the side ear blocks, as is often to be expected with this design Marks, scratches, abrasions, and old minor blemishes commensurate with age and function, but generally in pleasing condition throughout; a nice example of its type.
