A card sent following the death of Sigmund Freud in London. Dated October 25, 1939. A printed card with a handwritten message from Martha Freud (née Bernays, 1861–1951) to her niece Margarete Freud (1887–1984). 15 x 10 cm. A letter bearing witness to a difficult time for the family. There was no contact with four of Freud's sisters; all of them were deported and murdered in the Holocaust just a few years later.
