98g Dragon Bloodstone – Dragon Slayer

Before Siegfried faced the dragon Fafnir, he had a sword forged that could not break. Two blades had already shattered on the very first trial strike on the anvil. Only when the smith Regin forged a new blade from the fragments of Siegfried's father Sigmund did Gram come into being. This blade split the anvil to the foot and effortlessly divided a wool tuft that drifted with the edge in the river into two halves. Thus the Nordic Völsunga Saga of the 13th century tells it, in which Siegfried bears the name Sigurd. With this blade he lay down in a pit on Gnitaheide and waited until the dragon, smoke over the devastated land, crawled over him. Then he struck from below, straight into the heart of destruction. This single stroke contains the skull within it. Dark red flows heavily over the skull’s crown, eye socket, and jaw, as a witness to all the havoc the dragon wrought. Yet across it runs a golden stripe, bright and unwavering like a blade of light. It does not merely drive away the darkness; it cleaves it in two and commands the devastation to halt. Even the colors are not strangers to one another. The mossy green of epidote and the bloody red of piemontite belong to the same mineral group: siblings, just as Fafnir and Regin were brothers. Its redness owes to the manganese in its crystal lattice, its name to the Italian region Piedmont. Material: Dragon Bloodstone – green epidote with red piemontite Origin: Kimberley region, Western Australia Dimensions: 4.9 x 3.6 x 3.3 cm Weight: 98 g Features: Golden-yellow streak across the green-red pattern; deep red piemontite patches on the skull cap, eye socket, and jaw
