Extra-large Premium Quartz Natural Smoky Quartz - Double-sided Smoky Quartz on a stand This gem is the origin of many uses and creations. In the 12th century, the Chinese created sunglasses with Smoky Quartz lenses. This technique remains in use today. Later, in the 19th century, mediums used Smoky Quartz crystal balls to read the future. Its dark color offered the advantage of shielding divine predictions from prying eyes. Very popular in Scotland, it was used to adorn kilts or to make jewelry such as rings or brooches. The Highlanders, inhabitants of the north of the country, used to carry in their sock a traditional Scottish knife that they used to cut their victuals. It had a dark handle carved from Smoky Quartz.
