2023 Domaine de Villaine – Bourgogne Côte Chalonnaise "La Fortune" – 3 bottles (0.75 L) THE ESTATE Founded in Bouzeron in 1971 by Aubert de Villaine – historic co-manager of Domaine de la Romanée-Conti – and his wife Pamela, Domaine de Villaine is now run by their nephew Pierre de Benoist. A pioneer of organic viticulture in Burgundy (since 1986), the estate has greatly contributed to revealing the potential of the Côte Chalonnaise and to recognizing the Bouzeron appellation. The wines, of exceptional purity, are crafted with the same rigor and philosophy of terroir respect that characterizes the great names of the Côte d’Or. Domaine de Villaine is unanimously regarded as the reference in the Côte Chalonnaise, alongside domaines such as Joblot, François Lumpp, Dureuil-Janthial, Jacqueson, Michel Juillot or Faiveley in Mercurey. VINTAGE 2023 A generous Burgundy vintage, with volumes finally returning to normal and good ripeness. The reds are generous, fruity and supple, with preserved freshness – wines that charm from a young age. TASTING & FOOD PAIRINGS Brilliant ruby robe. Cherry, raspberry and currant notes, floral nuances with a touch of spice. Fresh and silky palate, fine tannins, juicy and saline finish. Ready to drink now, with a 5 to 7 year cellaring potential.
