2021 Domaine du Vieux Télégraphe

Le Châteauneuf-du-Pape white Vieux Télégraphe 2021 embodies the high standards and signature of Domaine du Vieux Télégraphe, operated by the Brunier family, a major reference for the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation in the southern Rhône Valley. From the La Crau plateau, this emblematic terroir stands out for its clay-limestone soils covered with rolled pebbles, which gradually release heat and contribute to the wine’s ripeness as well as depth. This white is crafted from a blend of Clairette, Grenache Blanc, Roussanne, and Bourboulenc, emblematic grape varieties of the great Châteauneuf-du-Pape whites. Clairette provides tension and Mediterranean notes, Grenache Blanc adds flesh, Roussanne develops a beautiful aromatic finesse, while Bourboulenc strengthens freshness and structure. In the glass, this Châteauneuf-du-Pape White 2021 presents a profile that is both generous and precise, marked by aromas of citrus, white peach, and exotic fruits, with a round, silky palate and a fresh finish with delicate anise notes. It is a broad, balanced, and gastronomic white wine, far from simple, thirst-quenching whites: it will appeal to lovers of terroir wines—rich yet elegant. Its élevage in tanks and then in oak foudres contributes to its texture, stability, and aging potential. Best enjoyed now with refined cuisine, it can also age favorably in the cellar for several years, revealing more complex notes of beeswax, candied fruits, and mineral character. Food pairing: serve it with roasted poultry or creamy sauce, turbot, sea bass, monkfish in armorican style, veal blanquette, mushroom risotto, or aged goat cheese. Its restrained richness also makes it an excellent companion for festive meals and grand tables.
