(ALC. 15% BY VOL.) Country of origin: Produced in Italy Contains sulfites Organoleptic profile Appearance: Pale ruby red and transparent, typical of Nerello Mascalese, with bright garnet reflections. Nose: Complex and elegant aromatic profile. Distinct notes of wild red berries (raspberry, wild strawberry, pomegranate), accompanied by mineral hints of volcanic ash, graphite, Mediterranean scrub, sweet spices, leather and a faint floral trace of violet. Taste: On the palate it presents as rich, warm and deep, supported by an extraordinary mineral freshness. The tannic texture is dense yet smooth, offering great balance and a persistent, salty and pleasantly spicy finish. Food pairings: cuts and dishes based on red meats and game (beef fillet, wild boar stew, roasted kid). Rich Sicilian pasta dishes, such as pasta alla Norma or macaroni with pork sauce. Cured meats and aged cheeses, in particular Ragusa DOP or Sicilian Pecorino pepato. Dishes with porcini mushrooms or truffle. Recommended glass: Large glass for great red wines (Burgundy-type). Curiosity about the winery and producer: Passopisciaro (today Vini Franchetti) was founded in 2000 by the visionary viticulturist Andrea Franchetti on the northern side of Etna, at about one thousand meters above sea level. Franchetti was among the great pioneers of the Etna wine renaissance, sensing before many others the untapped potential of the old bush-trained Nerello Mascalese vines rooted in lava and ash. The "Passorosso" represents the brewery’s most authentic soul of Etna according to their vision: a blend of grapes from different contrade located at different elevations, capable of merging in a single wine the complete expression of the volcanic terroir.
