2007 Ferrari F430 Spider

Introduced in 2004, the F430 represented a substantial development of Ferrari’s mid-engine V-8 sports car. Its new 4.3-liter, four-cam engine produced 483 bhp, while an electronically controlled F1 transaxle and steering-wheelmounted manettino brought technology developed through Ferrari’s Formula 1 program to the road. The Spider followed in 2005, sharing the Berlinetta’s mechanical specification while adding a retractable soft top for thrilling open-air motoring. For all its technical sophistication, the F430 retained the driver engagement and balance that had long distinguished Ferrari’s mid-engine sports cars. The manettino allowed the driver to tailor the car’s responses to road conditions, while the sixspeed F1 gearbox delivered swift, effortless shifting. Pininfarina’s design gave the car’s dynamic abilities an equally compelling form, with purposeful air intakes and a visible engine bay. The 2007 example offered here is finished in the classic Ferrari combination of Rosso Corsa (Racing Red) over beige leather, with a black soft top. Its factory specification was chosen with care. Scuderia Ferrari shields adorn the front fenders, Rosso Corsa brake calipers appear behind ball-polished wheels, and the cabin is outfitted with electrically adjustable Daytona-style seats. Matching beige leather extends to the roll bars and rear shelf, complemented by Castoro carpeting, carbon fiber dashboard inserts, and a yellow tachometer. A high-power hi-fi system with subwoofer and a six-CD changer complete the interior appointments. The appeal of this Spider lies in its exceptionally limited use and time capsule preservation. At the time of cataloguing, its odometer displayed just 473 miles. After nearly two decades, the car offers an opportunity to examine the colors, materials, and detailing of an F430 Spider with remarkably little recorded road use. The contrast between its inviting open-air character and its sparing use makes it a particularly intriguing example of the model. Equally appealing is the material that accompanies it. The Ferrari retains its original books, factory tool kit, car cover, battery tender, and Becker radio pamphlets. Its Vehicle Identification Passport, or VIP book, contains the car certificate, factory build photographs, and related records. Together, these items provide a detailed account of the car as it left Ferrari and an unusually complete complement of accessories for its next custodian. The F430 Spider belongs to a celebrated line of mid-engine V-8 Ferraris, but this particular example presents an opportunity seldom encountered today. Its traditional Rosso Corsa livery, thoughtfully selected factory options, extensive accompanying materials, and less than 500 displayed miles distinguish it as an exceptional example of one of Ferrari’s most rewarding modern open sports cars. car
