2004 Domaine Philippe Chavy "Les Pucelles" - Puligny...

PULIGNY-MONTRACHET 1ER CRU "LES PUCELLES" – 2004 - THE GREATEST NEIGHBOR OF THE GREAT CRUS The Magistral Interpretation of Alain Chavy: Alain Chavy owns a small plot jealously guarded on this sacred terroir. He signs a wine of incredible delicacy, where the innate power of the Pucelles is masterfully channeled by a crystalline aromatic purity. "Les Pucelles d'Alain Chavy is a wine of absolute grace. It is the perfect harmony of Puligny-Montrachet: the voluptuous flesh of a Bastard married to the most airy floral distinction of the Côte de Beaune." SENSORY EXPERIENCE: SILK VOLUPTUOSITY AND MAGNETIC PURITY At tasting, “Les Pucelles” by Alain Chavy offers a profile of overwhelming complexity: The Robe: A magnificent pale yellow-gold color, of clarity and diamond-brilliance with silvery reflections. The Nose: Captivating, airy and of extreme refinement. It bursts with a bouquet of white flowers (honeysuckle, jasmine, peony) and sweet citrus zest (blood orange, candied lemon). On aeration, it develops noble notes of marzipan dough, fresh butter, white truffle and roasted hazelnut, supported by a fine trace of wet chalk. The Mouth: The attack is a satin caress. The mid-palate unfolds a dense, rich and deeply spherical texture. It is an enveloping wine, of unreal silkiness. Yet the stroke of genius of the Pucelles lies in its underlying freshness: a ripe, saline acidity traverses this fat, giving it momentum, distinction and a perfect aristocratic balance. The Finale: Endless and of absolute clarity, it lingers for minutes on notes of toasted brioche, acacia honey and a calcareous persistence of infinite nobility.
