BRUNELLO DI MONTALCINO DOCG Riserva 2004 "La Storica" THE VINTAGE 2004 A seasonal pattern characterized by a cold and rainy spring. June, July and August were warm and dry with notable temperature swings and well-spaced rains. September was dry. The harvest began on September 20. THE PROVENANCE The Riserva 2004 was produced with the Sangiovese Grosso BBS11 clone (Brunello Biondi Santi 11), identified and selected by Biondi-Santi at Tenuta Greppo in the 1970s. For this Riserva, grapes were sourced exclusively from the oldest vines over 25 years of age. AGEING The Riserva 2004 was aged in Slavonian oak barrels for 3 years. It benefited from a very long bottle ageing in the quiet and darkness of "La Storica", the aging cellar of Tenuta Greppo, where all the historical Riserva Biondi-Santi vintages are carefully preserved.
