Western Europe, Spain. A matador's sword, or estoque de torero, forged for the culminating act of the corrida, the estocada. The slender iron blade, nearly a meter overall, tapers to a thrusting point and carries a maker's mark resembling a Ceres emblem alongside the etched initials "F.M.," likely a swordsmith's cipher. The cruciform guard curves gently, with quillon terminals capped in rounded knobs, and the grip is bound in wrapped cloth. The pommel is oxidized iron, and may originally have been fitted with a leather sheath. Item # 203315
