1976 Ferrari 308 GTB Vetroresina

Unveiled at the Paris Motor Show in October 1975, the Pininfarina-styled Ferrari 308 GTB succeeded the Dino 246 with a mid-mounted 2.9-litre DOHC V-8 engine, double-wishbone suspension, and four-wheel disc brakes. Early cars featured lightweight vetroresina (fiberglass) bodywork by Scaglietti before production shifted to steel coachwork for the majority of the model’s run. Combined with dry sump lubrication on European-specification examples, these features gave the first 308 GTBs a character distinct from their successors. According to the 308 GTB Registry, this left-hand-drive example, chassis 19647, was delivered new to Switzerland and originally finished in Blu Scuro Dino (Dino Dark Blue). When sold at a Swiss auction in September 2019, it was noted that the car had two known previous Swiss owners and that it had joined a small private collection in 2015. Today, the Ferrari is finished in red with black leather upholstery and contrasting red carpeting. Its sporting cabin features Ferrari’s signature gated manual gearshift and at the time of cataloguing, the odometer displayed 72,242 km. Combining lightweight Scaglietti bodywork with Pininfarina’s enduring design, this Swiss-delivered Vetroresina represents the earliest iteration of one of Ferrari’s most recognizable berlinettas, a model that helped establish the mid-engine V-8 as a cornerstone of the marque’s identity. Its fiberglass construction distinguishes it within the celebrated 308 family and adds to its lasting appeal. car
