Château Beychevelle, a renowned winery from the Bordeaux region that is classified as Quatrième Cru Classé (Fourth Cru). Vintage: 1969. Origin: Saint-Julien, a prestigious appellation (AOC) in the Médoc, France. Ownership: The label mentions Achille-Fould, the family that owned the château at the time. Wine & Bottling: A standard bottle Château Beychevelle 1969 (75 cl), which was officially bottled on the château itself under the management of the then-owner Achille-Fould family. The fill level remains very high (base of neck to high shoulder). The label is fully legible, but shows signs of aging. Value & History: The wine does not have an official Parker score due to the challenging harvest year at the time, but is regarded by critics and enthusiasts around 87 to 92 points. The winery is historically known for its iconic ship label, based on the legend that ships had to lower their sails (baisse voile) as a tribute to the admiral of the château.
