Wines bought to a retired wine distributor of Haro, La Rioja, in 2011. Stored in a private cellar up to today. Exceptional storage conditions. Fully mature and therefore drinking well now, or cellar for the next 20-25 years. - Imperial 1966: Vintage 1966 was rated "Excellent" by the oenologists of CVNE winery. Vinified in a big wooden vat from the founding time of the winery (1877), without temperature control, for 12 months and then racked to cask. Aged for 5 years and a half. Racked 11 times, once every 6 months in the first years, using the traditional Riojan cask-to-cask method. Hand-bottling directly from the barrel, bottle by bottle, in 1972. Currently, it would be classified "Gran Reserva" by the Regulatory Board of Rioja. - C.V.N.E. Viña Real 1973 Gran Reserva: 93/100 Robert Parker: "To me, 1973 represents the last of the truly old-style, classical vintages of Rioja. Moreover, it was a very good vintage with exceptional wines produced especially at the La Rioja Alta winery, but the 1973 Viña Real Gran Reserva was not bad either! The Who released Quadrophenia, Aerosmith made their debut with their eponymous album and Mike Oldfield's Tubular Bells became the first release on Richard Branson's newly launched Virgin label. Chances are they went to see The Godfather that year. The 1973 Viña Real Gran Reserva was produced a long time ago, yes, and the wine is very pale and delicate in a slightly decadent style.
