1957 Chevrolet Corvette Roadster

Just four years after its debut, the Corvette had evolved into a potent sports car with growing competition credentials. The 1957 model year marked a milestone as Chevrolet enlarged its small-block V-8 to 283 cid and introduced two options that would become central to Corvette lore: Rochester mechanical fuel injection, and a four-speed manual gearbox. In its most powerful form, the “Fuelie” V-8 produced a remarkable 283 hp – one horsepower per cubic inch. ‌ Today, the 1957 Corvette stands among the defining American automobiles of the 1950s, capturing a pivotal moment in the model’s development. Its combination of distinctive styling, advanced engineering, and spirited performance helped establish the character that would distinguish successive generations of Chevrolet’s sports car. ‌ The example presented here combines Rochester mechanical fuel injection, which may have been fitted later, and a four-speed manual gearbox with a handsome presentation in Venetian Red finish and contrasting beige coves. ‌ Accompanied by a 1957 Corvette owner’s manual and a desirable hardtop, it offers an exciting opportunity to acquire a Corvette from one of the most significant years in its history. car
