1936 Proof Set, All Five Individual Coins

1936 is the prize proof set over the past century. Like this one, many have been taken out of the set for individual collections and sales. In this set, the nickel and dime were preserved in wrapped plastic. The other three were loose yet contained all of their proof characteristics. The mint originally sold these as individual coins so each has a different mintage - The Waashington being the smallest at 3901. Cent - A little discolored with some reverse streaks but proof surfaces are still present and would probably grade Proof 60 Brown or 1-2 points higher Buffalo Nickel - Brilliant format from late in 1936. 66+ is being quite conservative as the strike is razor sharp, the surface is pristine without any issues. Proofs are a tribute to the design of James Earl Fraser which business strikes never fully present well. The obverse is thought to be a composite of Iron Tail, Two Moons, and John Big Tree while the reverse is thought to have been modeled on Black Diamond, a bison from the New York Central Park Zoo. If the new owner does not get it professionally graded, it would be a star in a Dansco type set. Dime-At first glance it appears to be a white proof but under a loop there are some toning streaks on both sides which is common. Nice proof surfaces of a 63 Quarter-Nice white proof surfaces but shows a little circulation - perhaps checking in at Proof 55 Half - A little wear shows up on the obverse underneath the proof surfaces. The reverse has less wear, probably no wear, and there are three little areas of toning and should grade Proof 55-58
