1919-S Walking Liberty Half Dollar. MS-64 (PCGS).

Key Date 1919-S Walking Liberty Half 1919-S Walking Liberty Half Dollar. MS-64 (PCGS). This is a particularly nice certified MS-64 example of the key date 1919-S half dollar. Intensely lustrous, the softly toned surfaces exhibit a bold frosty finish as the coin rotates under lighting. The strike detail is uncommonly full for this challenging issue, even Liberty's head and the central high points on both sides showing some definition. Uncommonly smooth in overall appearance for the assigned grade. A key date Walking Liberty half dollar even in circulated grades, the 1919-S has a mintage of just 1,552,000 pieces, which falls considerably below the 10.2 million coins struck in San Francisco the year prior. In Mint State it is the second rarest issue of the type after the 1921-S. Given the rarity of certified Gems, a handsome Choice Uncirculated coin such as this PCGS MS-64 represents outstanding value for the astute collector. Provenance: From the Mack C. Chase Collection. PCGS# 6579. NGC ID: 24R2. Click here for certification details from PCGS.
