1913 Indian Quarter Eagle. JD-1. Rarity-4. Proof-64 (CACG). CMQ. Legacy Holder.

Richly Original Sandblast Proof 1913 Quarter Eagle 1913 Indian Quarter Eagle. JD-1. Rarity-4. Proof-64 (CACG). CMQ. Legacy Holder. Bold honey-gold blankets the surfaces of this lovely premium Choice Proof, with subtle rose-red highlights. The complexion remains impressively composed under a glass, exhibiting an infinitesimal array of dazzling facets sparkling across each side. Well struck and nicely preserved for a coin with the delicate surfaces of a Sandblast Proof. The Proof Indian quarter eagles of 1913 were produced using the finely grained sandblast finish similar to that seen on the Proof 1912. While richer in color and finer in texture than most other Sandblast Proofs in this series, numismatists of the era still did not like these pieces, instead preferring the Brilliant and Cameo Proof coins from the Liberty Head series. Sales of the coins were poor and only 165 Proof quarter eagles were produced in 1913, down from the 197-piece mintage achieved for the 1912. The present Choice Proof specimen numbers among the more desirable of the 100 to 120 pieces believed extant and serves as a magnificent example of both the 1913 issue and the Sandblast Proof Indian quarter eagle series as a whole. CACG Population: 1; 2 finer (Proof-66+ finest). PCGS# 7962. NGC ID: 289M. Click here for certification details from CAC.
