1883 Liberty Head Quarter Eagle. MS-61 (PCGS).

1883 Liberty Head Quarter Eagle. MS-61 (PCGS). Pretty bright golden-rose color mingles with strong frosty to semi-reflective luster. Sharply struck and free from singularly distracting marks. Clearly with little need for new quarter eagles in commerce, the Philadelphia Mint produced a mere 1,920 circulation strikes in 1883. Survivors are understandably elusive in numismatic circles, the present example numbering among fewer than two dozen Mint State reported by PCGS. It is a significant survivor from this limited and desirable issue. PCGS Population: 13; 10 finer in this category (MS-64 finest). PCGS# 7835. NGC ID: 25L7.
