1877 Liberty Head Eagle. AU Details--Cleaned (NGC).

Key Date Circulation Strike 1877 Eagle Mintage: Just 797 Coins 1877 Liberty Head Eagle. AU Details--Cleaned (NGC). Deep honey-orange gold in color with much prooflike reflectivity, particularly in the recessed design areas. Sharply struck. A few scattered marks are noted, as are some light hairlines and overlying haziness, though the in-hand appearance is very pleasing, especially relative to the assigned grade. The ten-dollar gold mintage figure was 797 coins at the Philadelphia Mint in 1877, this being the last in a run of three consecutive dates with fewer than 1,000 circulation strikes delivered. Only 50 to 65 survivors in all grades are estimated by the experts at PCGS CoinFacts. The offering of this significant rarity represents an important bidding opportunity for advanced students of Liberty Head gold coinage. PCGS# 8677. NGC ID: 265F.
