1870 Pattern Liberty Seated Dime. Judd-873, Pollock-970. Rarity-7+. Copper. Reeded Edge. Proof-66 BN (PCGS). The obverse and reverse designs are the same that the Mint used to produce regular issue 1870 Liberty Seated dimes. Gorgeous premium Gem surfaces are boldly to sharply struck throughout the design. Appreciably mirrored in the fields with vivid cobalt blue and champagne pink iridescence supporting dominant walnut and copper brown patina. A mere four examples of this Judd number are listed on the uspatterns.com website, deliberately struck by Mint personnel to sell into the numismatic trade as part of off-metal Proof sets. This is the highest graded in today's market, identifiable by a small carbon spot low in the right obverse field, inside the letter C in AMERICA.
