1846 Loss of the Somers Medal. Julian NA-24. Bronze. MS-63 BN (NGC). 58.0 mm. Even chestnut brown on the obverse, attractively blended gold and violet over light brown on the reverse. A famed Mexican War medal by C.C. Wright, depicting the setting of the wreck of the Somers in exacting detail. A few minor marks, none serious. Perfect rims.
