1845 Braided Hair Cent. N-10. Rarity-3-. MS-64 RB (PCGS). CAC.

1845 Braided Hair Cent. N-10. Rarity-3-. MS-64 RB (PCGS). CAC. Grellman Die State b. Satiny and hard surfaces exhibit light, mottled, steel-brown iridescence to otherwise dominant rose-orange mint color. There are no marks of consequence, just wispy carbon flecks that are a bit more prevalent on the reverse. The digits 18 in the date and stars 13 are blunt, seemingly from having been struck through grease or some other kind of foreign matter that adhered to the die. Otherwise sharply defined, this is a lovely Mint State example that will appeal to both high quality type and variety collectors. Provenance: From our sale of the Collection of Thaddeus A. Tatum III, August 2018 ANA Auction, lot 374; Heritage's Beverly Hills Signature Auction of December 2018, lot 3052; our sale of the Widmer Family Collection, Spring 2026 Showcase Auction, March, lot 2287. CAC Stickered Population (all die marriages of the issue): 18; 5. PCGS# 1863. NGC ID: 226B. Click here for certification details from PCGS. Image with the PCGS TrueView logo is obtained from and is subject to a license agreement with Collectors Universe, Inc. and its divisions PCGS and PSA.
