1838 Classic Head Half Eagle. HM-2. Rarity-3. EF-45 (PCGS). CAC. OGH. The 1838 rivals the 1837 as the scarcest Philadelphia Mint issue in the Classic Head half eagles series. Only two die marriages are known, and they are of comparable rarity. This HM-2 example delivers sharp to full strike detail and pleasing color that blends deep honey-olive and warmer pinkish-rose and pale silver. Provenance: From the Emerald Coast Collection.
