1824 Matron Head Cent. N-2. Rarity-2. AU-55 (PCGS). CAC.

1824 Matron Head Cent. N-2. Rarity-2. AU-55 (PCGS). CAC. Noyes Die State B/B. Nice deep walnut brown patina on surfaces that are hard, tight, and satiny in texture. The complexion remains remarkably well composed even under close scrutiny with a loupe, there being only a few trivial handling marks scattered about that are of no consequence during in-hand appreciation. The devices are sharp with a trace of circulation weakening the high points, but no more so that one should expect at the assigned grade level. Exceptionally nice in a Choice AU example of this scarcer Matron Head cent issue, and worthy of strong bids. Provenance: Ex Koshkarian Collection; Ira & Larry Goldberg's Pre-Long Beach Auction of February 2017, lot 85. PCGS# 36769. BASE PCGS# 1636. NGC ID: 225D.
