1787 New Jersey Copper. Maris 38-Z, W-5175. Rarity-4. No Sprig Above

1787 New Jersey Copper. Maris 38-Z, W-5175. Rarity-4. No Sprig Above Plow, Pony Head. VF-20 (PCGS). SHI DS2. Glossy and slightly mottled olive-brown an walnut brown with traces of ruddy patina blended into the reverse. Slightly granular under magnification, while a few small old abrasions and gentle rim bumps also come into view upon close scrutiny. Well centered and evenly struck, though the reverse die state shows a bit of advancement - softness at the letters PL in PLURIBUS is the result. Nice detail and good eye appeal for the grade. Provenance: From the Emerald Coast Collection. Earlier from our ANA Auction of August 2019, lot 503. PCGS# 506. NGC ID: AUL8. Click here for certification details from PCGS. Image with the PCGS TrueView logo is obtained from and is subject to a license agreement with Collectors Universe, Inc. and its divisions PCGS and PSA.
