1785 Nova Constellatio Copper. Crosby 5-E, W-1915. Rarity-4+. CONSTELLATIO, Pointed Rays, Large Date. VF-30 (PCGS). CAC. Choice deep orange-brown surfaces with a hint of light olive overall, blushes of crimson-red here and there around the peripheries. Reverse softly defined at lower right, date a bit faint but fully legible, obverse universally bold for grade, overall design appreciable. This is a smooth, attractive, PQ example of both the type and Crosby number in Choice VF that is more wholesome that many pieces in higher grades that your cataloger has handled. Provenance: From the Emerald Coast Collection. Earlier from Heritage's FUN Online Session of January 2007, lot 60082; Heritage's sale of the James E. Blake Collection, July 2021 Early Copper & Colonial Showcase Auction, lot 91099. PCGS# 813. NGC ID: 2AZ3. Click here for certification details from PCGS.
