"1781" (ca. 1820) North American Token. W-13980. Rarity-2. VF-35 (PCGS).

"1781" (ca. 1820) North American Token. W-13980. Rarity-2. VF-35 (PCGS). Lightly to moderately worn, although overall detail is impressively bold for a type that was produced to look this way, thereby facilitating its acceptance in commerce. Both sides are originally and handsomely toned, the obverse in dominant chestnut brown, reverse in blended autumn-orange and olive-brown. Hard and tight with some nice gloss, this example would nicely represent the North American token in a colonial era type set comprised of mostly higher-grade pieces. Provenance: From the Emerald Coast Collection. PCGS# 589. NGC ID: 2B5H. Click here for certification details from PCGS.
