Signed AVON, stunning quality, magnificent, gold-plated (gold-tone) very large articulated brooch, depicting a fabulous tribal Aztec warrior mask adorned with red, green and yellow sparkly SWAROVSKI crystals. The mask dangles from two chains which are attached to a crown-like piece above. Great attention paid to detailing ornate engraving makes this brooch very dimensional. Art Deco style well designed and high quality piece. The Brooch is featured in "Classic American Costume Jewelry" by Jacqueline Rehmann on page 127 and in “Avon Jewelry” by Sandra Sturdivant on page 51. The brooch measures 8 cm (3.1”) tall and 6 cm (2.4”) wide. It weights 35 g. A safety catch closure and the signature are on the back. Excellent condition. This gorgeous piece, would go well with special occasion suit, but just also with a pair of jeans and a t-shirt. Anyhow, it will certainly be noticed whenever it is worn.
